Innovate UK Young Innovator Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates 24-year-old Penny Morton from Glasgow, who is one of six young entrepreneurs from Scotland to win this year’s Innovate UK Young Innovator Award; notes that the Young Innovators Awards recognise young people aged 18 to 30 across the UK with great business ideas, who have the potential to become successful entrepreneurs and future leaders in innovation; understands that Innovate UK award winners receive a £5,000 grant, one-to-one business coaching and an allowance to cover living costs; applauds Penny Morton for, it understands, being one of the few women working as a tradesperson, and for what it sees as her determination to empower more women to enter the industry and gain confidence with their DIY projects, by teaming up with companies to run DIYWomen workshops, and believes that Innovate UK is helping young entrepreneurs to take their business ideas to the next level, through the Young Innovators programme, and aiming to build a more inclusive and accessible business landscape.
