HMNB Clyde Memorial
The motion
That the Parliament commemorates the sinking of the steam-propelled K13 submarine in January 1917 and pays tribute to the 32 people who lost their lives in this tragedy; acknowledges what it sees as the pioneering spirit, courage, sacrifice, and humility of those early seamen; notes that wreaths were laid by West of Scotland Submariners Association and representatives from HMNB Clyde; further notes that a memorial service was held at Faslane Cemetery on 30 January 2022, which was attended by Helensburgh Sea Cadets; acknowledges that Reverend Mark Noakes, Chaplain of the Submarine Flotilla, led this service, which was attended by Captain Irvine Lindsay, Captain of the Submarine Flotilla, and appreciates what it sees as the unwavering strength of the Royal Navy in keeping maritime borders secure.
