Recognising Doddie Aid

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges that Scottish Borders Council are flying the Team South Doddie Aid flag outside Council Headquarters between 28 January and 14 February 2022 in honour, it understands, of the thousands of people across the south of Scotland who are taking part in the 2022 Doddie Aid fitness challenge, on behalf of the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation; understands that the flag was raised at a ceremony by Councillor David Parker and his guide dog, Clive, and that they were joined by Doddie Weir OBE, Doddie's wife, Kathy and former Scotland scrum half, Gary Armstrong OBE; further understands that, in a further show of support, the Scottish Borders Council Headquarters Tower, in Newtown St Boswells, will be floodlit each evening in the Foundation’s distinctive blue and yellow colours; commends all those involved in Doddie Aid, who have made the commitment to get active in January and early February in support of the Foundation’s aim of finding a cure for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), and congratulates the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation on raising £6.5 million to date.
