The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Orkney Islands Council and its partners, including JPS Restoration and Property Services, on the completion of the restoration of a naval gun, originally from HMS Hampshire, that will have pride of place when it is returned to the Scapa Flow Museum on Hoy; notes that the gun, a Vickers 3 Pounder Mk II Quick-Firing deck gun, was recovered from the wreck of HMS Hampshire, which was sunk during the First World War with the loss of all but 12 men from the 650 who were on board; believes that the gun will serve as a fitting memorial to the sacrifice made by all those who served at sea during both the First and Second World Wars, and looks forward to the reopening of the Scapa Flow Museum, which is due to take place during the Summer of 2022, following a refurbishment project valued at £4.4 million.
