Ayr’s Doon Academy Launches New Event, Football v Homophobia
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the work of Ayr’s Doon Academy as it launches a football day to tackle homophobia in football and society as a whole; notes that this will be a memorable and landmark occasion involving the pupils, staff and dignitaries from a variety of groups and organisations; further notes that Doon Academy is also working towards its LGBT Silver Charter Award; considers that this project will help the school to be as supportive as possible for pupils who wish to discuss their sexuality; recognises that the football teams will, on the day, be mixed with different representation to reduce the stigma of sexuality in football, and wishes Doon Academy well with its new event as it continues its action to tackle homophobia.
