The motion

That the Parliament notes the publication of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s professional vision, Pharmacy 2030; understands that the vision was co-produced with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working in all healthcare settings across Scotland, including hospitals, community pharmacy and GP practices, as well as in non-patient facing roles; further understands that pharmacy is the third largest healthcare profession; recognises the aim that, by 2030, pharmacy teams will work together, using their expertise to make the best use of medicines and taking a person-centred approach, providing care holistically rather than by clinical condition; further recognises the aim that, by 2030, pharmacists will be recognised as medicines experts who take leadership of prescribing in all care settings and optimise therapeutic outcomes for patients by prescribing, monitoring, reviewing, adjusting and stopping medicines, all of which is anticipated to be underpinned by empowering patients to make shared decisions, and believes that, by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society working with partners across health and social care to deliver the vision outlined in Pharmacy 2030, the pharmacy profession will continue to deliver improved health outcomes for people, across all care settings, long into the future.
