Western Isles Media Win at the Highlands and Islands Press Ball and Media Awards

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that two Western Isles newspapers and a journalist have won awards at the annual Highlands and Islands Press Ball and Media Awards; understands that the Stornoway Gazette won the Newspaper of the Year award, Loch a Tuath News won the Community Newspaper of the Year award, and Abigail Taylor, of Am Paipear, won the Alex Main Trophy for Young Journalist of the Year; acknowledges what it considers to be the high quality of journalism across the Western Isles, and recognises what it sees as the importance of independent and impartial local media outlets in communities.
