Victim Support Scotland - Victims Awareness Week 2022
The motion
That the Parliament supports Victim Support Scotland’s Victims Awareness Week, which runs from 21 to 27 February 2022 and also coincides with European Day for victims of crime on 22 February 2022; understands that during 2019-20, only 40% of crimes were reported to the Police and that, therefore, the theme this year will be Hidden Victims; further understands that this theme will aim to highlight untold and, sometimes, unreported stories of victims of crime and that these stories will be told throughout a series of audio interviews; notes that on Tuesday 22 February 2022, Victim Support Scotland will launch Mind My Experience – the VSS Language Guide, which it understands, will be used to highlight the appropriate language to use whilst speaking with, and about, victims and witnesses of crime, and understands that information on the upcoming Victim’s Awareness Week and how to support Victim Support Scotland, is available on the organisation’s website victimsupport.scot.
