SCIAF Acts of Hope Campaign
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund's (SCIAF) Acts of Hope campaign during the Lent period; understands that the Acts of Hope campaign asks people across the country to show solidarity with those who, it believes, are living on the frontline of the climate emergency, facing extreme hunger and life on the edge of survival; believes that people can Act in Hope in a number of ways, by considering what they eat, how they travel, how much they waste, and by donating in hope to SCIAF’s WEE BOX appeal; commends SCIAF’s work supporting, it understands, 2.2 million people across the globe, including in Malawi where SCIAF is working through local partners to help families adapt to climate change and provide the essential knowledge, skills and resources they need to survive, and asks that people take time during Lent to consider what changes can be made to care for what it considers is the “Common Home” that is Scotland, and support communities, who, it believes, are hardest hit by the climate crisis.
