The motion

That the Parliament commends Motherwell-based company, Cameron Dalziel Skip Hire; notes reports that the company has offered a substantial reward to help a Gulf War veteran get his stolen medals back; understands that armed forces veteran, Mr Robert Brown, reportedly had his medals stolen from his East Kilbride flat recently; further understands that Mr Brown proudly served in the British Armed Forces for 22 years as a physical training instructor before joining the Royal Regiment of Scotland; understands that Mr Brown has post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and that the medals were to be a legacy to his daughters; condemns the reported theft of these medals, which, it understands, include recognition of service in the first Gulf War, tours of Northern Ireland, service in Basra in Iraq, long service for serving six years or more in an operational environment and a medal for long service and good conduct; understands that Mr Brown's name and service number is on each of the medals and asks that the perpetrators of what it sees as this heinous crime do the right thing and return the medals to Mr Brown, and believes that Cameron Dalziel Skip Hire is a pantheon of community support, having previously assisted, it understands, during the COVID-19 pandemic by transporting medics through heavy snow, ensuring that the delivery of vital PPE equipment reached those in the care home sector.
