Sandy Patterson, Connachan Salver Recipient

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Sandy Patterson on being awarded the Blackface Sheep Breeders’ Association’s prestigious Connachan Salver for his outstanding contribution to the breed; considers that this award is particularly appropriate given that Mr Patterson spent almost 30 years as a shepherd at Connachan, near Crieff; believes that this is a well-deserved recognition of a lifelong commitment to shepherding; notes what it sees as Mr Patterson's contributions to the development of blackface hill sheep and as breeder of some of the individual sheep most influential in developing the breed nationally, such as Highland King Beadie and 38K Auchloy, and wishes him continued success, in semi-retirement, in continuing to produce animals of the highest quality.
