Lanarkshire School Kids Enjoying New Walking to School Initiative

The motion

That the Parliament supports the new initiative, the Walking Bus, which was implemented by Berryhill Primary School, Wishaw; notes that the initiative was brought in as part of the schools’ COVID-19 recovery to help support children and families wellbeing; understands that the initiative is run by principal teacher, Marina Mathieson and acting principle teacher, Susan Clelland following a positive consultation with parents; further understands that the children have helped create a route, with all classes participating in the Walking Bus, including themed literacy and maths lessons to plan and organise; understands that there has been approximately 80 children joining each morning, and it has been confirmed that it will continue to run until the end of the school year.
