Douglas Academy Pupil Wins Scottish Review Competition

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Douglas Academy pupil, Holly Helbert on winning the Scottish Review competition, which, it understands was held in conjunction with the Young Programme charity; understands that, according to judges, Holly’s essay was beautifully written, poignant, simple and was about coming to terms with childhood and the loss of family members and grief; further understands that the writing was found to be full of fine descriptions and mature observations, and understands that Holly received a cheque for £600 for her winning entry, which has been published in a special edition of the Scottish Review.
