Lodged by Rachael Hamilton (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party) Standard Motion 29 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the opening of Reston's new railway station, which, it understands, will commence services on 23 May 2022; notes that the previous station closed 58 years ago in 1964, as part of the Beeching closures; understands that the station will have two platforms that will be served by operators, ScotRail, TransPennine Express and LNER; welcomes the new services, which, it believes, will improve commuting opportunities, connectivity and lower carbon emissions; commends Rail Action Group East of Scotland (RAGES) especially their Chairman, Barrie Forrest, who it understands, have all worked tirelessly campaigning for the reinstatement of the station, and wishes all those who are involved with station the best of luck with the opening on the 23 May 2022.
