Balfron High School YPI Project Donation to Start Up Stirling

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the pupils of Balfron High School involved in the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative Scotland (YPI) on their successful community fundraiser that led to them donating £3,000 to Start Up Stirling; understands that YPI is the largest independent initiative being delivered in Scottish education, with each school responsible for directing a grant of £3,000 to a local charity that is championed by its pupils through a unique programme of teamwork, research, and competition; acknowledges that since YPI was introduced to Scotland in 2008 by The Wood Foundation, YPI has engaged more than 230,000 young people who have taken responsibility for £5 million of charitable giving, and understands that the donation from Balfron High School's YPI will assist Start Up Stirling with their project, which is focused on relieving poverty, suffering and distress of people in crisis across the Stirling Council area, and which, it considers, is very important with rising costs putting increasing pressure on low income households across Stirling.
