Inverclyde Scouting Volunteer Named in Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Honours List

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Graham Haddock from Inverclyde on being honoured with an OBE for his services to young people, having been involved in the Scouting movement for more than 40 years; notes that Graham is currently vice president of Scouts Scotland, is a member of the Scouts UK Board of Trustees and is chair of the National Awards Advisory Group; recognises that Graham was also made a Fellow of Youthlink Scotland in 2018 and was awarded its lifetime achievement award, and is currently a volunteer panel member for the Children’s Hearing System in Scotland; appreciates that Graham was the first UK commissioner for the Explorer Scouts and has attended jamborees all over the world in locations such as South Korea, Chile, Japan, Sweden and Thailand; commends Graham, who is a retired neonatal and paediatric surgeon, for his dedication to Scouting having volunteered with the movement for over four decades and held vital roles at all levels of the movement; hopes that Graham’s commitment is an inspiration to others and highlights how rewarding volunteering can be; believes that volunteers play crucial roles within society, and thanks all those that volunteer with the Scouting movement for their efforts.
