Rhona Gibson Awarded BEM

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Rhona Gibson of Kilmarnock has been awarded a British Empire Medal for voluntary and charitable services in the 2022 Queen's Birthday Honours; understands that Rhona received her award for her extensive voluntary and charitable service in fundraising, advocating and educating on a range of health topics across multiple organizations; understands that she has raised around £3,000 each for the British Heart Foundation, Chest Heart and Stoke Association, local schools for children living with disabilities, local senior citizen clubs and cerebral palsy charities, and that this is in addition to raising over £30,000 for Combat Stress and thousands of pounds to fund defibrillator placements in local GP surgeries; recognises what it sees as her extraordinary dedication to her role managing several care homes and support units for people living with dementia, learning disabilities and head injuries throughout the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that no residents in her care were lost to the virus; applauds what it sees as her selfless dedication and commitment to caring for others; congratulates Rhona Gibson for her well-deserved award, and wishes her every success in the future.
