Royal Recognition for Port William Community Association Volunteers

The motion

That the Parliament warmly congratulates the Port William Community Association SCIO based in Port William, Wigtownshire on receiving The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in the 2022 awards list; notes that this award is the highest award that a voluntary group can receive in the UK and that Port William Community Association is one of only 22 organisations in Scotland to receive this award in 2022; further notes that the organisation has been in existence for more than 70 years and that it works to advance the citizenship and community development of Port William; commends Port William Community Association for its work such as organising events throughout the year like the annual village Summer Carnival Week, which is popular with both local residents and visitors alike; notes that during the COVID-19 pandemic the volunteers of the organisation supported older and vulnerable people in their community with daily tasks; thanks all of the members of the Port William Community Association both past and present for their dedicated work to their community, and wishes them well for their continuing work for the Port William Community Association.
