North Berwick Youth Project Receives Young Start Grant

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that North Berwick Youth Project has received a £99,330 grant from the Young Start fund from the National Lottery; understands that Young Start offers funding from £10,001 to £100,000 to help children and young people across Scotland become more confident, so that they can realise their own potential; notes that North Berwick Youth Project has been running since 2001 and was one of the first youth cafés in Britain; understands that the project has grown through the years and evolved from being a youth café to an organisation that offers young people support in varying areas, a base to come and spend time with friends, and employability support; notes that it is also a place where young people can come if they need support with issues that are affecting their lives; believes that North Berwick Youth Project will use the grant to support work with young people on an outdoor programme of activities aimed at developing their confidence, wellbeing and connection with the environment, and understands that young people will guide their own learning, develop problem solving skills, take on responsibility and reduce their social isolation through relationship building with peers and connecting with other local groups.
