Girvan Academy Pupil Set to Help Plan the Next Mars Mission

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Girvan Academy’s Molly Beckett who has been given the opportunity to take part in a two-week programme at NASA; understands that Molly is one of 50 students from across the world that will take part in the programme; notes that the programme will begin in August 2022 at the NASA International space school in Texas where Molly will be working on the next mission to Mars; believes that during her visit Molly will also have the opportunity to meet astronauts and visit the Neutral Buoyancy Lab, Mission Control and the Saturn V Rocket; considers this as an opportunity of a lifetime to gain valuable STEM experience supporting her future career plans; understands that Molly is an aspiring astrophysicist with strong ambitions to work for the European Space Agency in Paris; further understands that she is currently raising £1,000 towards the cost of the trip, and wishes her every success for the future.
