New Research by Epilepsy Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes new research by Epilepsy Scotland, which highlights inequity of access to specialist epilepsy care in Scotland; notes, according to the research, the significant wait times to see epilepsy specialists in some health boards; understands that there is a need to increase the number of Epilepsy Specialist Nurses to counteract the reducing number of posts across Scotland, to allow for more manageable caseloads, and improve wait times for patients; notes the research recommendation for improved prevalence data recording of epilepsy to better understand the existing population, and supports the call for improved neuropsychology services across Scotland to address reports that many adult and paediatric patients are waiting over a year for neuropsychology support.
