Stewartry RFC Celebrates 50th Anniversary
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Stewartry Rugby Football Club in Castle Douglas on its 50th anniversary celebrations, which are taking place this year, 2022; notes that Stewartry RFC was founded in June 1970 but that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it had to delay its anniversary celebrations until 2022; notes that the club hosted a dinner with over 450 attending and also a community and family celebration, Party on the Pitch, on 11 June; recognises that Stewartry RFC has produced a number of male and female players who have gone on to receive caps for Scotland; recognises that the club currently fields two senior XVs (male and female) and seven youth teams; further recognises that the club also supports the local community with a full-time Development Officer, and runs a number of programmes for children and young people in the area; thanks all of those who have, since its founding in 1970, given their time to support and grow the club, and wishes Stewartry RFC well for its next 50 years.
