The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Scottish Borders athlete, Sammi Kinghorn, on being awarded an MBE for her services to disability sport in the Queen’s Birthday Honours; notes that following what it understands was a life-changing accident in 2010, Sammi has gone on to inspire the nation by becoming the fastest ever female British wheelchair racer, winning medals in both domestic and international competitions for 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m races; acknowledges that Sammi broke many of her personal bests last month at Stoke Mandeville, with world-record breaking times and that she hopes to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games this summer in Birmingham; believes that this prestigious award comes as deserved recognition of the outstanding hard work and dedication of Sammi, and wishes Sammi continued success this summer and in the years ahead.
