Disabled Golf Week (Scotland) 2022

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges that as Scotland's only golf organisation for those with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, Scottish Disability Golf and Curling (SDGC) has launched its first ever nationwide week of activity, aimed specifically at introducing new players of any age to the game; understands that Disabled Golf Week (Scotland) 2022, has been arranged to follow The 150th Open in St Andrews and is running from 23 to 29 July 2022, with daily golf HUBS being arranged at numerous points across the country, including Fife, Edinburgh, Renfrewshire, Isle of Lewis, Dumbartonshire and Falkirk; further understands that an SDGC golf HUB is designed specifically to host all types of people with any type of disability or serious health issue that interferes with the playing of the game; notes that part of Disabled Golf Week was held in Fife on 23 July 2022 at 10 am at the Fife Golf Studio, where tuition and practice time to include lunch was provided by PGA Professional, Eric Walker and on 24 July 2022 at 1 pm at the Elmwood Golf Course, where a mixed round of golf and lunch was provided for players; welcomes the fact that all activity at the event was to be free of charge, and commends Scottish Disability Golf and Curling and all involved on what it sees as a truly excellent initiative.
