Stories of Hope: Addiction Recovery
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the new report published by the Evangelical Alliance and Serve Scotland, Stories of Hope: Addiction Recovery, highlighting what it sees as the extraordinary efforts that have been made by Christians in Scotland to assist and care for those in addiction and bringing to light the scope of Christian addiction recovery services across Scotland; notes the report’s findings that over a quarter of Scotland’s residential beds for addiction patients are offered by Christian groups; understands that over 2,300 individuals over the last decade have been directly supported to successfully recover from their addiction through services offered by Christian groups and churches across Scotland, including in the Lothian region, and notes the report’s aim in encouraging greater joined-up partnership between the Scottish Government and Christian addiction recovery support charities to successfully tackle Scotland’s drug deaths crisis.
