Ewan Hastie Wins Coveted Mark McKergow Prize from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Kirkcaldy musician, Ewan Hastie, on winning the coveted Mark McKergow Prize for jazz improvisation from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS); notes that Ewan has toured to places such as Skye, Glasgow, Belfast and the Sligo Jazz Festival; understands that, since moving to Glasgow, Ewan has played professionally with a number of talented musicians as well as performing in Glasgow’s thriving jazz scene; further understands that Ewan follows in the footsteps of previous winners Fergus McCreadie and Matt Carmichael, who have gone on to sign prestigious recording deals and represent Scotland and the RCS across Europe; commends Ewan for his hard work, diligence and creativity, and wishes him all the best for the future.
