Jim Warnock from Clackmannanshire Appointed Chairman of Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that a gentleman from Clackmannanshire, Jim Warnock, has been appointed chairman of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS); understands that Jim Warnock who is managing director of Alloa-based JDWAgri Ltd has been a Stirling area director at RHASS since 2010, before being appointed chairman designate in 2020; believes that during his time at the society, Mr Warnock from Clackmannan, has served as steward for cattle, sheep, light horse, and heavy horse, before being selected as chief steward of the main ring, a position he held for five years from 2015 until 2019, and has now been appointed chairman for a two-year term; understands that as past chairman of Stirling Young Farmers and past chairman and president of Stirling Agricultural Society, Mr Warnock has been an active member of Royal Highland Educational Trust (RHET) Forth Valley delivering classroom talks, farm visits and other RHET events; considers that the RHASS, which was founded in 1784, supports the very best standards in agriculture, forestry, and stewardship of the countryside, in addition to having a rich history of encouraging advances in education, science, technology, and craftsmanship over more than two hundred years; further considers that the RHASS also promotes the regeneration of rural Scotland, as well as the preservation of its poetry, language and music; acknowledges Mr Warnock's significant experience of the entire industry; congratulates Mr Warnock on securing the chairmanship, and commends the RHASS on what it considers to be sterling work for the welfare of the entire agricultural industry and the communities that support it, whose support they enjoy in return.
