Port William Community Association Marks Platinum Milestone as Carnival Resumes
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Port William Community Association after it reached its platinum milestone having celebrated its 70th anniversary with the traditional crowning of the Carnival Queen by local resident, George McKenzie MBE, in the grand marquee on the Harbour Green, 2022 recipient being Molly Legge; recognises the invaluable contributions made by four committee members over the years, Dr Guy Brown, Jim Gray, Jim Fingland and, former Carnival Week chairman, Willie Kay, who have all sadly passed away since the last carnival event in 2019; notes the marvellous work carried out by Port William Community Association, an organisation dedicated to advancing the citizenship and community development of the village, and wishes the Association continued success in organising future carnival events that are enjoyed by both young and old alike.
