Welcoming SSE Renewables and TotalEnergies New Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm
The motion
That the Parliament commends SSE Renewables and TotalEnergies on the start of their joint venture, Seagreen offshore wind farm; notes that the first turbine out of 114 has been connected to the electricity grid; understands that when fully operational, the site will produce around five terawatt hours (TWh) of renewable electricity per year, enough to power the equivalent of 1.6 million households; applauds what it sees as this vital project in supporting the transition to net zero; believes that this project would not have been possible without the UK Government's Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme, thus ensuring projects such as these can go ahead, and hopes that the completion of Seagreen is a great success.
