John Wynne, 383 (Alloa) Squadron, Air Training Corps

The motion

That the Parliament is saddened at the passing of a Clackmannanshire man, who it understands is said to have defined squadron life in Alloa for the past five decades, and whose work was instrumental in the success of Alloa’s Air Cadet squadron; understands that Mr John Wynne, who passed away peacefully at Parklands Care Home on 24 August 2022 and whose funeral at Alloa Ludgate Church was on 14 September 2022, established 383 (Alloa) Squadron, Air Training Corps, in the late 1970s; further understands that Mr Wynne was promoted to squadron commander, and remembered fondly by many who had passed through the doors of the squadron over the decades; believes that when he retired as squadron commander in 1993, Mr Wynne continued to support and advise in his role as a civilian instructor at the squadron; notes that the cadet hall in Whins Road was renamed in his honour, and in tribute to his service he received a nomination for the Clackmannanshire Citizen of the Year Awards; acknowledges that former cadet and current squadron commander Flt Lt Craig Hutchinson has paid tribute to Mr Wynne, and posthumously commends Mr Wynne for his exemplary service and his shaping of the lives in a positive way of those young people who knew him.
