Congratulates Bloody Scotland on 10th Anniversary
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival, which is held in the city of Stirling, on the 10th anniversary of the festival; praises Bloody Scotland on what it sees as a brilliant example of cross-sector collaboration, with support from a wide array of local and national stakeholders, including Stirling Council, GoForth Stirling, the University of Stirling, British Council, Waterstones, National Lottery and many more; understands that 2022 Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival saw the return of the Torchlight Procession from Stirling Castle to the Albert Halls in Stirling City Centre, which was well attended with hundreds of locals and visitors alike joining the festival; notes that the 2022 Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival took place from 15 to 18 September 2022 across numerous venues including the Albert Hall, Tollbooth, Golden Lion Hotel, Church of the Holy Rude and the Curly Coo Bar, as well as online events and livestreaming; understands that the Festival continues to garner international attention with well-known authors including Sir Ian Rankin, Anthony Horowitz, Irvine Welsh, Sara Paretsky and David Baldacci hosting talks and workshops in 2022; notes the increased footfall and economic benefits that it understands the Festival brings to the city of Stirling and surrounding areas, and wishes the Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival many more years of success.
