University of the Third Age (U3A)
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges the 28th anniversary of the founding of Fife University of the Third Age (U3A) and the 40th anniversary of the founding of the U3A nationwide; notes that the U3A was founded in 1982 and is a UK-wide movement of locally-run interest groups that provide a wide range of opportunities for members to explore new ideas, skills and activities together; further notes that the guiding principles of U3A are to promote non-formal learning through self-help interest groups covering a wide range of topics and activities as chosen by their members; understands that members learn purely for pleasure instead of towards qualifications; wishes the U3A all the best for the future, and looks forward to the next 40 years of peer-to-peer education.
