The motion

That the Parliament warmly congratulates the community-led housing and bunkhouse on 21 Main Street, Wigtown, on being shortlisted in the Housing and Regeneration category of the prestigious 2022 SURF Awards for Best Practice in Community Regeneration, which identifies and celebrates best practice, innovation and achievement in interventions that improve Scottish communities; understands that the local partnership collaboration successfully secured community ownership of the town’s former Bank of Scotland building before redeveloping the property into two affordable homes, a community garden and growing space; wishes the Wigtown project every success when the final winners are announced on 8 December 2022, and notes also the good work carried out by SURF, a charity whose membership now totals more than 300 organisations that are concerned with the regeneration of socially and economically challenged communities across Scotland.
