Celebration of Inclusion Scotland's 21st Birthday
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the 21st birthday of what it sees as the leading disabled people’s organisation, Inclusion Scotland; understands that the founding of Inclusion Scotland coincided with the establishment of the Scottish Parliament, in order to better represent disabled people’s voices at the Parliament; considers that Inclusion Scotland and its members have been successful in promoting disabled people’s human rights, the social model of disability, and co-production that values the lived experience of disabled people; recognises what it sees as Inclusion Scotland’s role in increasing the number of disabled people represented in Scotland’s democratic institutions and its innovative internship and employability programme, breaking down barriers that disabled people face at work; congratulates Inclusion Scotland and its members for, it believes, successfully influencing policy in relation to social security, tackling poverty, social care support, housing, employment, transitions for young disabled people and, most recently, the COVID-19 response; commends the international reach of Inclusion Scotland, including its work with the United Nations and COP26, and wishes Inclusion Scotland well at its 21st AGM in October 2022, and beyond.
