The motion

That the Parliament expresses its delight that a Stirling businesswoman has been shortlisted in the Women’s Enterprise Scotland Awards 2022; understands that Gillian Crawford, founder of WOW (Scotland) Limited, has been shortlisted for the Embracing Technology award as well as being nominated in the Inspiring Leader category; believes that, following a 20-year career as a journalist with The Times and The Sunday Times in London and Glasgow, latterly as deputy editor of The Sunday Times Scotland, Gillian founded WOW (Scotland) Limited, which trades under two names, Tartan Twist, which is a Scottish jewellery and gift brand focusing on clan tartans, plus Lily Blanche, a fine jewellery brand specialising in lockets; understands that although the company’s main focus is on e-commerce, both Lily Blanche and Tartan Twist sell via stockists throughout the UK, including Edinburgh Castle, Tower of London, Gleneagles Hotel, the Scottish Parliament Shop, the Orient Express Group, and Kensington Palace; acknowledges that Gillian is also chair of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs (Scotland) and an Ambassador for Women’s Enterprise Scotland; notes that the winners of the Women’s Enterprise Scotland Awards will be announced at a ceremony at the voco Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow, on 27 October 2022, and wishes Gillian all the very best for the awards.
