The motion

That the Parliament sends its best wishes to the Scottish Women’s Rugby Team who are competing at the delayed 2021 Women’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, with record attendance expected when the tournament begins; understands that Scotland booked its place at the World Cup, which begins on 8 October 2022, after beating Columbia by an impressive score of 59-3 at the Final Qualification Tournament decider in Dubai; notes that Scotland made its Rugby World Cup debut in 1994, when it secured its best place finish of fifth; understands that Scotland faces what it believes will be a tough challenge in Pool A, where the team play Wales on 9 October, Australia on 15 October and hosts New Zealand on 22 October 2022 in Whangarei, and wishes the players, head coach, Bryan Easson, and the rest of the coaching staff the very best of luck during the tournament.
