The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Falkirk Junior Gaelic Choir, which consists of members from across the Falkirk district, including Falkirk East, on its success at the Royal National Mòd in Perth; recognises that the choir was  successful in winning nine trophies in total at the Royal National Mod 2022, the Queen Elizabeth Coronation (1937) Trophy, Alexander Hamilton Trophy, Jean Graham Memorial Trophy, Martin Wilson (North Berwick) Trophy, East Kilbride District Council Trophy, Ian Thomson Memorial Trophy, Alistair MacNeill (North Berwick) Trophy, Jean Walker Memorial Trophy and Iain Thomson Memorial Prize; considers that the choir, which has been performing for 61 years, and the choirmaster, Mary Maclean, a former gold medallist of the Royal National Mòd herself, have put in a huge amount of work in learning not only the songs being performed but also the Gaelic language; understands that the Falkirk Junior Gaelic Choir recognised the important work of Mary Ann Brown in championing the Gaelic language throughout the central belt of Scotland in the acceptance and dedication of the awards, and that without Mary Ann Brown’s influence, the Gaelic language would not be as widely spoken or understood as it is in present times; congratulates the Falkirk Junior Gaelic Choir on achieving nine awards at the Royal National Mòd 2022, and wishes everyone involved every success in the future.
