Newark Primary Teacher Recognised for Anti-Racism Campaigning.

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Catherine "Katie" D’Souza, teacher at Newark Primary school, on being awarded a top national award for her anti-racism campaigning; understands that Katie has been named joint winner of the 2022 General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTC Scotland) Saroj Lal Award for a Pioneering Spirit in Equality and Diversity; understands that Katie’s pupil voice anti-racism group campaigned for equality and diversity, creating anti-racism posters to be displayed around their school and community, and visited local businesses to spread their message, and commends what it sees as the commendable efforts of Katie in actively challenging discrimination, and demonstrating a pioneering spirit and determination in her efforts to promote equality and diversity.
