New Struan School's Kitchen Team Highly Commended at Scottish Food Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the team behind the kitchen at New Struan School in Alloa on being highly commended in an awards scheme; understands that head cook, Lorraine Dalgleish, and kitchen assistant, Sanita Lieciniece, received the commendation after they were shortlisted in the Food Service Team Of The Year category at the Scottish School Food Awards; further understands that the awards ceremony was hosted at Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh on 27 October 2022, with accolades going out to schools across Scotland in a variety of categories; considers that New Struan School has a number of pupils who have specific requirements relating to dietary and sensory needs, which requires the team to create bespoke menus for individual pupils, alongside the three-week rolling menu; understands that the school's headteacher, Lee-Anne McAulay, has praised the team for doing a fantastic level of work every single day, citing that Lorraine and Sanita always go the extra mile for the children, and is delighted that their work has been acknowledged in this way.
