That the Parliament congratulates Maryhill Community Tennis Club on delivering the full modernisation and refurbishment of previously derelict tennis courts in Maryhill Park, which will be formally opened on 12 November 2022; commends Judy Murray for her support and encouragement following her challenge to the local community and elected members to breathe life back into the derelict courts after a visit to Maryhill Park in 2019; applauds all who responded to that challenge so positively to secure a floodlit facility incorporating three full-size and four mini courts and acknowledges the central role of Friends of Maryhill Park; commends the new community tennis club co-chaired by Sarah Howitt and Stuart McMillan and supported by the community coaches, Stuart McMillan, Craig McCarron, Martin Sangster, Craig McNeil and many volunteers; recognises that the club has been providing free tennis coaching to young people for some time; thanks all funders for their support, including the Judy Murray Foundation, Glasgow Life, Glasgow City Council, sportscotland, Speirs Gumley, Western Tennis and local housing associations; welcomes that this near £200,000 facility is bookable for the general public to use, and wishes all involved with Maryhill Community Tennis Club the very best for the future.
