Celebrating Scottish Women in Sport – Coach of the Year 2022

The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the news that Mhairi Lake has been named Coach of the Year 2022 at the Scottish Women in Sports Awards; notes that the award recognises the invaluable role coaches play in educating and supporting others to achieve their goals; further notes that Mhairi has participated in netball from primary school to university, including with the young farmers; understands that her motivation to expand the netball community in Clydesdale stems from her own experience with the difficulties she faced when trying to advance in the sport, despite a lack of availability of netball clubs in the rural area of Carluke; acknowledges Mhairi’s dedication to provide opportunities for all members to grow through all stages of the netball pathway, including the development of future coaches and referees; commends Mhairi’s work in establishing the Carluke and Biggar Bounce Back Netball for adults to increase participation at all levels in sport, and wishes her every success with her future endeavours.
