Celebrating Four Awards in Four Days for Scottish Long Distance Runner, Eilish McColgan

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Eilish McColgan on her stunning success during the sports awards season thus far; understands that Eilish is the recipient of the BT Sport Action Woman Award, The Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year, the Scottish Women in Sport Sportswoman of the Year, and the British Athletics Supporters Club Athlete of the Year; notes that all four awards were won within four days; further notes the phenomenal success Eilish has achieved this season, not only in her impressive medal count including Commonwealth Games gold, double medals at the Commonwealth Games and the European Championships, but also in setting the British records on the road at 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and the European record in the 10K; recognises what it sees as the positive impact her high profile awards have in encouraging more media coverage and increased investment into women and girls in sport; celebrates the recognition of Eilish’s hard work and success this season, and wishes her ongoing success in the seasons to follow.
