Ministry of Defence Police Officers from the Clyde Marine Unit Win Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates PC Iain McInnes and PC Jamie Byrne who were both honoured at the Defence Police Federation Awards for saving four people from a capsized boat in Loch Long; understands that the officers, both part of the Clyde Marine Unit, assessed the situation and with less than a minute left between life and death, managed to save the passengers from drowning; notes that a helicopter was called to the scene to airlift the hypothermic casualties to hospital; understands that Defence Police Federation chairman, Eamon Keating commended the officers' actions for displaying composure, courage and exemplary boat skills when helping the people who had fallen into the loch, and wishes the officers every success in their careers as Marine Unit Officers.
