The motion

That the Parliament congratulates PC Iain McInnes and PC Jamie Byrne, who are both serving Ministry of Defence police officers, after they rescued a group of people from the freezing waters of Loch Long and won an award for their bravery at the Defence Police Federation Awards; notes that the heroic officers discovered the party in a cove after their boat had capsized; recognises that a woman in the party, who was a weak swimmer, was starting to go under the water and they made her the priority, assessing that she could be dragged under the water if they did not act quickly enough; acknowledges that they carried out a difficult manoeuvre in lining up their boat with the rescue helicopter to take the woman to safety, and thanks the officers for their ongoing hard work, including, later that same night, rescuing a pair of fisherman who became stranded on their boat.
