Taynuilt Gaelic Choir Celebrates 25th Anniversary

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Taynuilt Gaelic Choir on its 25th anniversary and its celebration to mark the occasion; notes that the Choir was formed in January 1997 and that it was the first adult Gaelic choir to be based in Taynuilt since the Second World War; recognises the Choir’s achievements over the last 25 years in various provincial Mòd competitions and also at the Royal National Mòd; understands that, at this year’s Royal National Mòd in Perth, the Choir won the Selma Shield for the highest marks in Gaelic in the MacMaster competition; acknowledges what it considers the important social and cultural benefits of Gaelic choirs in local communities, especially in the preservation and promotion of the Gaelic language and culture, and wishes all involved in the Taynuilt Gaelic Choir well for the future.
