National Grief Awareness Week 2022

The motion

That the Parliament recognises that 2 to 8 December 2022 is National Grief Awareness Week, which was created by the Good Grief Trust; understands that the week raises awareness of grief and loss, highlights the work of bereavement support organisations across the UK, and helps people to better understand how to support those grieving the loss of a loved one; recognises that such support is invaluable as, where early access to support is not available, bereavement can lead to serious mental and physical health problems, and praises the work of groups such as the Good Grief Trust that offer access to approximately 800 support organisations and services, including Cruse Scotland, which provides bereavement counselling, listening services, information, advice and training, and which has supported bereaved adults, children and young people across Scotland for over 60 years.
