Department of Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport Funding for Scottish Grassroots Football Clubs

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes a new round of funding announced by the Department ofDigital, Culture, Media, and Sport on behalf of the UK Government, which, itunderstands, will offer Scottish grassroots clubs the ability to transform andupgrade their facilities for the benefit of local communities; understands thatthis £2 million investment is the second round of funding being invested inScottish grassroots football by the UK government, with £2 million havingalready been delivered by the Scottish FA in 2021-22; further understands thatclubs will be able to apply for funding to make improvements to their existingfacilities in three areas: 3G playing surface upgrade or replacement, sustainability,and natural grass improvement; notes that upgrades made possible by the fundingalready include a new 3G pitch at Forfar Athletic’s, Station Park, which is hometo men’s side, Forfar Athletic and women’s side, Forfar Farmington, as well asnumerous other youth and recreational clubs and groups; further notes thatinterested clubs have until 23 December 2022 to apply for funding, andencourages any interested clubs to do so.
