Lodged by Pam Gosal Standard Motion 37 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament wishes everyone celebrating Hanukkah in Scotland and around the world a peaceful holiday season; understands that Hanukkah, which is also known as Chanukah, is a Jewish wintertime “festival of lights”, celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special prayers and celebration foods; notes that the Hebrew word, Chanukah, means “dedication”, and is thus named because it celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple; further notes that Chanukah begins on the eve of 25 Kislev and continues for eight days, and that this generally coincides with the month of December, and acknowledges that, in 2022, Chanukah runs from 18 to 26 December.
