Glasgow Boys' Brigade Run Santa Dash to Fundraise for Community Defibrillator

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the 162nd Boys' Brigade for taking part in Santa Dash on 1 December 2022; understands that the brigade was raising money for a defibrillator in its local community; notes that the 162nd company section, based at Carntyne and Cranhill church, was aiming to raise £1,500 for the life-saving equipment, which it intends to station in the church grounds on Carntyne Road in Glasgow's east end; acknowledges that boys between ages 11 and 16, along with two of their group leaders, took part in the city-centre run; understands that the group had been training in the evenings, running between three and five km to train for the dash; notes that 2022 was the first time it has been held in three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that the charity, London Hearts, based in England, has been in touch with the brigade and offered a discount when it is ready to buy the defibrillator; further understands that this has really raised the boys' spirits, along with the support received from the church and other boys' brigades, and notes that the group hopes to have the defibrillator in place by the end of their session in May 2023.
