Congratulates David Murdoch on Winning Coach of the Year at Scottish Sports Awards 2022

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates David Murdoch on winning the Coach of the Year Award at the Scottish Sports Awards 2022, which were hosted by Team Scotland and sportscotland, and held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on the 7 December 2022; understands that David won the award for his role as British Curling's Olympic Head Coach and guided Team GB Women's Curling Team to Gold and Team GB Men's Curling Team to Silver at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing; further understands that David has overseen the introduction of mixed doubles, guiding Scottish pairs to world titles in 2021 and 2022, and notes that David is based at the purpose-built National Curling Academy at the Stirling Sports Village, which was built, it understands, thanks to awards of £1,425,000 from sportscotland and £1,726,566 from Stirling Council.
